They provide a sense of relaxation and calmness. Colors were used in the healing of human ailments from ancient ages. Now it is mainly practiced by holistic practitioners and other alternative medicine practitioners. Color is light, and light is energy. Light in its basic form is an electromagnetic energy transmitted in a wave form. The wavelength of the light gives different colors. When light hits an object, varying amounts of colors are absorbed by the object and the rest of the electromagnetic waves are transmitted. This light energy that bounces off objects creates our world of colors. Colortherapy uses the power of light, and color energy for healing. It is thought to be simple, safe and effective. It is claimed that color therapy acts by reinforcement of the aura. Any ailments that affect the human body is thought to alter and disrupt the aura ultimately resulting in breakdown of strength. The choice of the color for colortherapy depends upon the area of the aura affected by the ailment or disease. Use of proper color reinforces the aura in that disrupted area. There are energy centers located throughout the body and these energy centers vibrate at different frequencies. There are seven main energy centers located in the human body, and these are called Chakras. Each of these Chakras is uniquely associated with a color and is influenced by a specific color and frequency. These Chakras are thought to be responsible for the physical health and well being of the human body. When these Chakras erode of weaken it need to be strengthened and re-enforced to achieve physical, mental, emotional, psychic and spiritual well being. Color therapy is thought to augment and re-enforce the erosions on Chakras caused by ailments and diseases.
